Ok so I need to be fired from my blogging job. So much has happened since my last post. I left you at Jackson recovering from surgery from his bowel obstruction surgery. Which everything went well from that. After coming home after about five days in the hospital we started weaning off of the oxygen. Six days into being completely off oxygen Jackson started to get a cough. We had to go back on the oxygen and went from .1 liters to 1 liter of oxygen in a matter of five days. After all was said and done, we took Jackson to the ER and he was admitted for pneumonia. This was one of the scariest hospitalizations for me because I watched as Jackson struggled to wean down from high oxygen settings. Luckily after six days he was able to come home on .1 liters of oxygen. That was in the beginning of March. Now fast forward to today and my little guy has been off oxygen for 6 1/2 hours today. Its a slow start but the doctors and I both decided to take his weaning a little slower.
I am now staying at home with Jackson full time and it has been wonderful. Working full-time and taking care of him was becoming very stressful and some days unmanageable. He starts physical therapy and occupational therapy in the next couple of weeks and I have mixed emotions about that. I am excited to see him catch up with his adjusted age(six months adjusted yesterday) but I am super sad to know that he needs it. I think sometimes people have the misconception that once the baby comes home from the NICU that everything is perfect. Jackson has at least two doctors appointments a week and sometimes even more than that. Not ideal but better then being the hospital, so I will take it! Oh before I forget to mention he a helmet next week to help shape up the back of his head. Not sure how long he will have to stay in the helmet. What we do know is that he has to wear it 23 hours a day. That is going to be a huge adjustment for him and I am hoping that I can I make it as smooth as possible.
